First shuttle launch I ever saw was STS-61 B (Atlantis) in November 1985. I was only six years old but I remember it well. A night shuttle launch was surely an amazing feast for the senses. You defiantly feel it in the chest.

I think most think it'll be like a jet engine. And when it becomes evident that it's on a completely different level, it can be a little shocking.
