At first it was a text with the annoying alert sound. Then the annoying sound. Then the annoying sound again. Then again.

I deleted the message. BUT the alarm warning sound continued.

Then it hit me. I NEED to go to Spec's before this shite gets serious.

The message is:
"STAY HOME"
"Covid-19 case count is raidly rising in every area of Harris County. Protect yourself and your family by staying home and severely limiting contact with others.

Harris County issued a Stay Home Work Safe order thru April 3, 2020. Non-essential businesses MUST close. Remain at home except for essential activities. Visit readyharris.org for more.

So I go to Spec's for my rum and Wild Turkey with Honey supply. I went right around 2:00 pm this afternoon. It was like Saturday night at 8:30 - no liquor sales on Sunday in Harris County. The place was packed and everyone going in was grabbing a grocery cart or carry-basket. shite was serious.

So when I got to the register I talked with my favorite manager Maria. I asked if they were going to close and told her about the message I received.

She said that I should have been in the store. Everybody's phone - customers and workers went off at the same time. Freaked everyone out. They thought it was a tornado or something worse.

Said 5 minutes later the swarm of customers started. It was only about 15 minutes after the first message when I was there. And more were pulling in as I was leaving.

False alarm though. She said that liquor stores or theirs anyway is considered essential so they won't close. I was like "YOU are DAMN right this is essential, EVEN if I didn't drink I would start RIGHT NOW."

But anyway, that damn alarm and messages - 2 so far will probably have my little liquor store looking like the Kroger toilet paper aisle in a short time.

I got the alert on my phone. But I was on a conference call and just muted it and went back to work.

Yeah, that’s not true. As of last report 203 cases in Harris. Up from 140 a few days prior.

And remember, Harris County prob has close to 4.7 million people.

I haven't bought alcohol for the house in almost 2 years, until yesterday. Just don't drink like I used to, but might have to go ahead and stock up.

Thankfully I still have work to keep me occupied.

Got the alert while walking my dog at the park.

Quickly ignored it and cleared the message. I’m guessing our Mayor and Judge felt left out because they didn’t do their daily press conference to provide Harris County residents with 0 new knowledge or statistics or facts, just new guidelines and conjecture.

May not be.

The TP and eggs shite doesn't bother me. But if my Spec's is wiped out next week or the week after when I go back I will be bummed out.

Will have to try the Total Wine & More. It is pretty huge but they will get a good run of panicked hoarders also.

Yes I have. A friend of mine who lives on a lake used to buy it. One time I went up to stay with them and I brought my Wild Turkey. He was a former WTw/H drinker for a couple/few years after I turned him onto it. But this time he said he had switched - pretty sure because the Texas stuff was cheaper.

He kept it in a chest freezer in the garage where the guys watch TV - Tim Allen grunt. So we put my WTw/H in there also and taste-tested them during the weekend along with drinking beer and rum drinks.

He didn't switch back right away but for what ever reason he is drinking WTw/H again. Might be because of the tiny (airplane) bottles of WT that they sell.

The Texas stuff had more of a bite on the taste. If you took a sip of the WTw/H and tasted the smoothness of it the Texas stuff would make you grimace a little. Not quite as smooth but had a nice taste going down. I didn't like the aftertaste though.

I say all of this as a long-time WT w/honey drinker. Back when it first came out and they sold it in the "I dream of Jeannie" shaped bottles. I have loved it from the very first sip.

Tiny bottle:

This guy says it is Gluten Free.
