I don't fear them. But i do recognize that the role of many of them is a revenue agent for local municipalities, the state and others.

Correct. That’s how Case law is created. If a cop is wrong, fight it through due process.

One might think the cop is wrong but many agree with the cop. The people getting in trouble are usually blinded to the fact they did wrong. Nothing against them but one usually thinks irrationally once the iron bracelets are on.

Must have been a long lunch for you to have downed nearly a quart and a half of beer.

I’ll be honest. Unless you were piss drunk and I mean pissing yourself. Most jurisdictions will reduce the charge. Here they will drop to reckless with alcohol involved. Still bad but not like a DUI.

Honestly I have a lot of friends who’ve gotten DUI’s. I don’t judge them, it’s a mistake. Just like if I run a red light by mistake looking back at a kid or talking to a spouse and I kill someone by running the red light. Did I purposely do it? No. But I still made the mistake and should be punished.

In my decade in uniform, I was present at three deaths where the driver was below a 0.08. Those people’s lives were changed.

Just saying.

I am not sure about this

This one thing MADD does good- trying to stop slap on wrist. Mine was 2001 DFW. There was no quarter. MADD is agressive about stopping loop holes.

I just wish regardless of money - there was clear standard clear consequences, and measurement was sicentifically valid.

Do you think Alcohol played a role?

I imagine you have been at fatal accidents with stone cold sober drivers and their life was forever changed

Heck maybe the answer is absolutely no alcohol. Just straight any booze and you are in trouble. As long as it was consistent I could deal with it

I agree. Enforce the same penalty across the board. If someone scores so many on the SFST’s and blows .1 then keep the penalty the same. Don’t reduce it because they are important in the community or have more money.

It is always amusing to me that every person who is arrested for an alcohol-related offense is able to identify with alarming specificity the quantity and style of beer they had before the arrest. It's like Rain Man can't hold his booze or something.

Yes. BAC reactions is different for each person. One might act and sounds stone cold sober at .15 and one might act piss drunk at .04.

I have been to many fatals. They all suck. It seems the families take it harder if there loved ones were drunk or hit by a drunk. Second to that is seat belts, families take that one harder as well.

I got a reckless driving ticket a few years ago in college after being pulled over with a bunch of drunk friends in my truck and blowing a .05 while underage. It sucks, but you live and hopefully learn. I picked up a keychain breathalyzer for $30 at Target that I keep in my truck and even though I’m of age now I never drive if I’m above .06. Not worth the ramifications even if I trust myself to drive. If I’m getting schnockered at the bars, i take an Uber down. If I’m having a handful of beers and get above .06, I find something to do for a while before driving. It’s not rocket science but takes discipline. Hard life lesson, but take it as such. Good luck man

That’s not what he is saying. He’s making a reference people can kill with a BAC less then .08.

That's what I was thinking.

According to the calculator on the previous page, I can have 6.5 beers in 2 hours and still be legal. I'm 6'3" 225 lbs. The amounts would obviously differ depending on your size.

Maybe maybe not.

Or accidents where soccer moms are distracted by their kids. Ban Kids in the car.

And cell phones ban them

Less accidents would occur if you dropped the speed limit to 50 or hell 35. In fact just ban cars.
