Good morning.

Ready to see the smoke on my way to work. Looked pretty cool yesterday and it is staying away from me. Looks like a really bad storm all across the horizon.

Morning Berg.

I feel better today. Not as tired as I was yesterday. Course...I also slept from like 8 pm until 5 am.

Gonna be adding Liquid IV to my water a few times a day to give me more electrolytes. Supposed to help prevent complications from all the meds. Also have to increase my protein intake as well.

I'm on the meds for around 9-10 days. They monitor me frequently with bloodwork and ultrasounds to see how I respond to the meds. And adjust doses based on that.

Then once they have determined I'm all full up of eggs....they schedule egg retrieval. They knock me out and go get the eggs. Then fertilize eggs and see what happens.

Then a month or so later I go back and they transfer the best embryo (if there are any) and see if I get pregnant.

And that ladies and gents...is IVF in a nutshell

Yeah we did 4 rounds of IUI. 2 rounds in 2016 and then 2 more rounds last year.

The whole flood thing in 2016 and having to relocate my family here made us put all that on hold for several months until things settled down some. Things were just too stressful at that time to try fertility stuff.

My insurance covered IUIs at 80% so that was one huge motivator for us want to try that first.

we're on round 3 of IUI now. Wife said a year ago we wouldn't do IVF but is now wanting to consider it. :/

We were the same way when we started. Even told the RE from the beginning no IVF.

Then my sister in law got pregnant with one round of ivf. After talking more to her about it we changed our decision.

There are ivf loans you can take out btw. Decent interest rates and terms. We are only doing one round of IVF....it’s not unusual for it to take several rounds to work. But we just can’t afford several rounds and are just at a point where it either works or we just stop for good and move on.

yea, I actually kinda thought she may change her mind.

Insurance actually covers 4 rounds of any combination of IVF/IUI so we may use round 4 to go straight to IVF if 3rd round IUI doesn't work. Wouldn't be CRAZY expensive but still more than I would like to spend
