I had UPPP surgery last Monday to successfully eliminate my sleep apnea. And they gave me a big ole bottle of hydromet.

How bad has the pain been? I assume you're not reaping the benefits yet with all the swelling
A doctor recommended that to me after I couldn't handle the cpap. But I read it wasn't that successful

Well, the pain hasn't been horrible to be honest, and according to two separate ENTs I was the ideal candidate because I'm not overweight, relatively young, and my tonsils and uvula were huge -- not just enlarged. They felt that removing tonsils, uvula and adenoids along with a turbinate reduction would solve the problems I was having. According to my girlfriend, I haven't snored or jerked up in my sleep gasping for breath since the surgery.
I'll get another sleep study done to verify, but I'm waking up with a crazy amount of energy and truly don't get tired during the day like I used to. I do wear down and start sweating because...surgery recovery, but I am more alert than I've been in years.
Worst parts were my nose bleeding for about a day and having to change that gauze every 15 minutes because they didn't want to pack my nose, coughing up bloody mucus for about a week, and not being able to taste anything.
The throat pain was more like a really bad case of strep throat, and I've had those all my life and I kept in front of it by taking my syrup on schedule.
Surgeon did say my tonsils were all kinds of messed up with stones and scar tissue. He was amazed I wasn't in pain all the time. Now, I think I kind of was; I just got used to it over the years.
ETA: Swelling was minimal really. They cut with lasers these days, so that really reduces the secondary trauma. Five or six years ago it was a much more painful surgery and recovery.

Ah ok. This was about ten years ago. All I remember him saying was my remove adenoids, fix my deviated septum and cut out part of my soft palate
I am like the world's worst snorer. My sister stayed with me this weekend and said it was awful and that's probably why I'm single whore
Glad it went well and seems to be helping already. Maybe I'll look into it again
