Gf of mine wants to go to NOLA for her 40th bday next year. She is from Chicago and has never been. She wants me to go with her. I would make a return trip to LA for that.

I like only working 8 hours a day. Day flies by now for me.
Our department is considering letting people either do a compressed work week(4 days a week) or possibly working one day from home.
For now, I don't mind working 5 days. The job itself is so much less stressful and I really enjoy what I do now. Plus my boss is super laid back and I can easily leave early or come in late if I need to for a doctor's appt, etc. She is aware of all that is going on with my family and has told me any time I need a day off to help them out to just let her know.

Well that sounds like it was definitely worth it for you. After my youngest comes off child support in 2 years I may go for a REGULAR schedule but damn I sure like my extra days off.

I do miss having those extra days BUT at the same time....I'm off EVERY weekend now and EVERY holiday. I can be more social now because I'm no longer working the nights/weekends that my friends wanted to go do stuff.

I just got stupid and spent right at $200 on ties as an impulse buy. Knowing I have dozens I don't even wear and probably won't wear most of these.

I've run into my former coworkers as I'm coming into work and they are going home in the am and many of them have commented on how much happier I look.
