When I left to travelnurse in 2005 I wanted to go to California right away. A good friend of mine from HS that was stationed in Tucson (Air Force) told me that if I went someplace where I didn't know anyone at first...I would get lonely and end up calling my ex and get back with him (this was right after I finally got the guts to leave him after 9 years). My friend in Tucson suggested I take an assignment there first cause I would at least know him and I could hang out with him and his gf. Figured he likely had some cute single Air Force friends as well.
So I went to Tucson first. My friend's gf hated me (I think she thought I was gonna steal her man or something). My friend got deployed overseas less than 2 weeks after I got there. Met a guy in Tucson...ended up following him to PHX. Rest is history. (Guy I met in Tucson...we broke up and then I met my now husband).
My original plan was to do one 13 week assignment in Tucson...then go to California.
