I also wanted to say thank you for your thread about bens burger on the food board. Very good thread you did about the place. I’m sure the owner appreciates it too

Yeah, no shite. The point is that the economic crisis will continue in perpetuity until we address the medical crisis. It's that or we just throw up our hands surrendering to COVID , allow it to run wild through the population, and we lose a couple million people all the while hoping businesses recover despite a sickened, dying nation.

The CDC, FEMA, WH, etc., are constitutionally mandated to pull us out of this shite as smoothly as possible. It's an absolute fricking traveshamockery that we are only testing at a fraction of the per capita pace as countries like South Korea and Taiwan.

It is telling that preaching a message of voluntary communal sacrifice automatically triggers certain posters to bandy around terms like communist, comrade, and Bernie supporter. I am a capitalist, a 10th generation American, a Teetotaler, and above all a Christian. I believe America would not exist as a light on a hill without the Christian principle of sacrifice for the community. This willingness to sacrifice for the community is the most fundamental American value, and it comes to us from our Puritan forefathers and mothers. As we have drifted from our religious roots, so too have we drifted from that which gave birth to the nation's greatness. For America to get through this crisis, I suggest that we must reclaim our birth duty. It is no longer about individual pursuit of fortunes -- this mindset helped to gut our industry, sending manufacturing and jobs to other countries like China. It was all good, so long as our stock portfolio increased. But America's greatness declined as a result.

America's greatness is based on the individual freely willing to sacrifice for the good of our nation. I only hope each of us will see that in the coming months.

If this drags on, absolutely not.

You'll see rots in 3 weeks if people are still locked down. You're totally excluding people's desire to make a living and feel normal.

The only way this continues over a month is if we see body counts over 100k.

The current UI system isn't built to deal with this. People are extremely angry right now about not being allowed to work.

And I'm sure business will just fricking BOOM while, literally, a couple million Americans die because our government chose the economy over life. This is a recipe for this country to fail...social disorder...ugly.

ORRRR.....we could just, ya know, expect our fricking government that we pay to protect us to actually quit pretending things are improving or that there's some miracle drug just on the horizon, and maybe buy some fricking tests so that we can act like real Americans and nip this shite in the bud, saving lives and recovering economically.

Then how about we redirect the "Mncuchin $500,000,000,000 slush fund" in the GOP proposed phase 3 Corona package and funnel that money toward the fricking workers? Checks large enough to cover lost wages in return for staying home and/or adhering to social distancing guidelines is one hell of a deal that every worker will happily follow.

Throw that $500B at big business while this goes on for another couple of months? Yeah, that's just begging for a shitstorm.

You're too emotional, not looking at this rationally.

Shutting down 20% of American idndusty by government directive will cause riots soon.

People love feeling safe until there stomachs growls, then you'll see politicians backing off the nazi like social order.

Totally agree. In fact, I can only think of one other thing that trumps stomach growls. Dead relatives.

You still believe that fairy tale..

Government isn't required to protect you. They show up afterward and write reports.

Or, just tell people that they’re allowed to fricking go back to work. And if they want to shutter up shop for a few weeks at their own discretion then they’re free to do so.

But you saying that we should just shut the country down for weeks on end to defeat a virus that for all intents and purposes isn’t as big a threat as we’re being led to believe will cause more harm than the actual virus itself. Especially in the long term.

Our economy is a house of cards. All of this money is just a decimal point in some federal database somewhere. It's not real money.

The economy is the life blood of the entire nation. That is an indisputable fact. The economy goes to shite, the entire nation goes to shite.

That’s cute. The government doesn’t protect a fricking thing except for itself. The government for all intents and purposes is the enemy of liberty loving individuals like myself. The government continuing to function in its current state is a direct affront to the founding fathers’ principles as well as myself and like minded individuals.

There are public consequences to leaving that decision to people with a vested interest in staying open. You understand that, right?

That's not what I'm saying, at all. I'm saying that if our government doesn't pull its head out of its arse to ramp us testing, allowing us to segregate those who test positive, this will continue. I don't like this shutdown, at all. I want it to end. It can't safely end until we get tests.
