I don't know the technicalities of how the rule is written, but I see plays like that all the time and never see an offensive goaltending call.

@Boo I don't either. Listening to Jay Bilas, he seemed to imply that if the offense (LSU here) commits the offense, it's called basket interference. If the defense does it, it's goaltending. He further said that the hand reaching through the cylinder is not an offense until the ball is 'immediately present' (my words)

my game time experience:
put telly on lsu channel 2 minutes before game
pause telly
play with my sweet puppies
eat boudin or honey nut cheerios
don't look at my celly
make a delicious cocktail using whiskey
unpause my telly after 25 to 35 minutes
watch lsu commercial free for most of game
