I quickly built a emergency shelter and got a fire going...was in the middle of cooking up some whooping crane eggs and bald eagle bacon when the power came back on...

Sorry I guess I missed your question.
Aircraft always take off and land into the wind. With the forward speed of the carrier and added into the headwind, it adds to the lift across the wings required for takeoff and landing. I could probably fill the rest of the page with semi-usless info but that is the short version of it.
