AT, no school here in Charlotte today. The teachers took one of these oh so important days to go to the state capitol to protest about money. Of course they phrase it such that they say we don't have enough per-student spending. And if you give us all the raise that will increase the first student spending and then education will be better.
It's not about us, it's about the students.

I'm sure that you knew that off the top of your head. I do not, however I heard this morning that we ranked 39th in some statistic. I don't know if that was teacher pay, or if it was in per student spending. Please illuminate.

Meh. It’s around 37th, depending on the year. The ceiling is significantly less than I make now, and it requires a Master’s and additional certification.
We looked at Asheville several years ago. The realtor warned me that I’d be perpetually frustrated trying to teach in NC. I’m more or less apolitical, but I can’t fault the teachers in NC for wanting to fight for a raise.

Same for me. It made me dizzy and then sick. I had very little trouble opting out of cigarettes as a vice after puking on the sidewalk.
