What I am saying is they need someone to tell these players today that they can't play bc if up to the players they would go back in even if they don't remember the last play. You hear plenty of former players say they would do it again.

Of course they want to. In the past coaches and doctors would just send them back in. These are hyper-competive people and they want to help their team win, at all costs.

And what I'm saying is that this perceived love of the game, and willingness to sacrifice all, in actuality turns into a money grab when many retire and plunder away their money, and fame is gone. I, too, think they need a doctor to make the decision. But not because of some idealistic notion that the players have a warrior mentality that they need to be protected against. But rather, the league needs to protect themselves against the money grabbing retired players and their legal counsel down the road.

There is a Great Netflix documentary on athletes spending all their cash. I forget the name of it though.
