the Zr2 Colorado is new and a very specific vehicle like the raptor. No stock truck some with it.

Raptor doesn't have front locking diff from factory. Colorado ZR2 has front and rear lockers. The Ram Power Wagon may have something similar but I'm not sure. The new Wrangler Scrambler pickup will have it in a year or so.

Those are all production vehicles.

We actually have more options for that out of factory vehicles than we did 5 years ago.

So you can get a locking front diff from the factory now with a manufacturer warranty. Definitely an interesting time for trucks.

How people making under six figures can "afford" a new model truck or SUV these days is behind me.

They can’t. They may think they can, because they are able to pay the note each month.

But these people aren’t putting away $18.5K to a 401k and $5.5k to an IRA each year. Therefore, they can’t really afford it. They just do it.

The Tacoma TRD has a good electronic rear locker. Some of the Tacomas and 4Runners also have a really elaborate traction control for the front axle that tries to mimic a front locker. I forget what Toyota brands that feature though. A lot of Tacomas and some 4Runners are modified with a front e-locker.

The Colorado ZR2 and Jeep Rubicon have front and rear electronic lockers from the factory. This is mostly for serious off roading and is overkill for most pickup drivers. The Rubicon and Colorado ZR2 are aimed at younger buyers that are into rock crawling and other extreme off roading. A true front locker like that is rare in stock pickups and SUVs.

Most 4x4 GM trucks (with the exception of the ZR2 Colorado) have an automatic locking rear diff. It comes standard with the off road package but you can opt for it independently. It's an ideal setup for most pickup buyers that need a little extra capability off pavement.

The Tundra and F150 (except Raptor) don't have lockers of any type that I'm aware of. They do have limited slip and traction control that can be switched off. The Ford Raptor has an electronic locking rear diff that isn't available in the standard F150.

Not sure what Ram has. I think it's a limited slip setup similar to Ford. They also have a Power Wagon model that I think has e-lockers.

I'm starting to think the truck industry has lost its direction.

They sell a lot of Denali and King Ranch pickups these days. The Denali brand in particular has been a huge success.

They still make stripped down trucks though.

I dont believe any truck come standard with a locking Differential besides the raptor. They have limited slip differentials.

All Z71's and 2500's come with an auto locker. I think its called the G81 locker but not 100% sure.

I think this is replacing the Z71 model GMC trucks in the past. So it has the locker, skid plates, etc.

It's essentially the Z71 package with unique wheels and trim and a factory (under warranty) lift.

This is the replacement for the All Terrain. More of an off road Denali.

Chevrolet and GMC have offered an automatic locking rear differential on trucks and SUVs for 25 years.

ETA: It actually may have been longer than that. We had it on a K1500 from the early 1990s.

In truck I would prefer to have it manual. But the vast majority of people who buy a truck never use it that way.

Just build one of these for your trail rig:

have $12-$15k total in it, buy a lightly used truck for 35k, and throw in a great mpg family car brand new for 20-25k. There, helped someone make an infinitely better decision.

How heavy of truck nuts does it hold?

No longer the unit of measure for trucks, since truck nuts are now 3d printed with aluminum powder.
