I got to thinking about the days when the State-Times and Morning Advocate papers had one of the best Sports sections in the country. Joe Planas, Al Tircuit, Dan Hardesty, Ted Castillo, Lee Feinswog, George Morirs, shoot, even Dave Moorman.

And can't forget the Old Beachcomer, Bob Scearce.

I remember when the newspaper was relevant. Now about the only reason I buy them is to keep a decent stock of paper to light my charcoal.

But, yeh, I really miss the days of having a reason to read the paper...I miss the box scores most. I have a tendency to just scan over articles on a screen.

Drinking coffee at the kitchen table while reading the Sunday Sports section of the Baton Rouge advocate. I was a kid then. I also loved reading Tiger Rag when I was at the local K&B drugstores.

I can remember reading the Sunday Sports Section and then the Denham Paper cover to cover on Sundays. A year or so ago I subscribed to the now LP News. The floods cut them back to a weekly publication from twice weekly. But the Call and Comment Section still brings it. Still enjoy the shite out of reading the whole thing, cover to cover...

Could you show the research on this? I hate when people just say this shite. The Birmingham Saturday Sunday was the college football newspaper was the GOAT

As recently as this past season, Ted Castillo was still going to baseball games, being wheeled in and sitting in the SRO area scoring the games. He’s a real trooper. I don’t think he attends to coach’s Monday news conferences this year though.
