Some parents aren't above having a boy play, but I don't get kicking out the entire team.

All they need to do is produce a birth certificate and the case is closed... But no, they produce an insurance card instead...

When I played ball, I needed my birth certificate to prove my age, what's the difference...?

Again, do you carry your birth certificate everywhere you go? The answer is no. You know what you more likely have with you anywhere you go, your insurance ID card.

This tournament fricked up, plain and simple.

a birth certificate would have solved NOTHING.

it's the coaches fault for fricking up.

According to the tourny organisers after the fact. How come this team made it all the way to the finals before this supposed typo was found?

Probably some parent on the other team complained about a boy playing girls' soccer, so the officials double checked the roster.

As someone mentioned earlier, if she played in more than this one tournament, this issue probably has already been asked.

My older brother was tall for his age, like man tall. My mother had to carry his birth certificate to baseball tournaments to prove his age. She also carried mine because someone thought she was using my birth certificate as his.

People are going to cheat the system, and people are going to get caught up in the system. It sucks that it usually is kids getting penalized.
