That was my favorite Dan Carlin series by far.

I've listened to BfA in its entirety at least 4 times now. Best work on WW1 I've encountered

I heard that he said Princip was only able to assassinate FF because he just happened to be grabbing a sandwich when FF's car passed by... that true?
Yes. After the bomb thrown at FF's car failed to kill him, the team of assassins had basically gave up. They thought they'd missed their chance. All that changed though when Princip stepped out onto the street and just by chance there right in front of him sitting at a dead stop was his target.

Another of the conspirators threw a grenade that wounded someone in the motorcade on the way to City Hall. The mayor pleaded for the Archduke leave immediately to avoid further trouble, but Franz Ferdinand insisted on visiting the wounded man first. On the way to the hospital, his car made a wrong turn down a narrow street where Princip happened to be standing. As the driver was trying to back up, Princip jumped on the running board and shot the Archduke and his wife at point blank range.

I agree 100%. In fact, as I was finishing Ghosts of the Ostfront the thought of going back and listening to Blueprint for Armageddon again occurred to me. Think I'll start it on my way home today.

It is a very well-done documentary. Kinda like Cliffs Notes--an overview that makes you wanna learn more.

That's not true. It wasn't chance... it was because the driver wasn't given the info to change routes until it was too late. Princip knew the route and was waiting. The driver wasn't informed to change the route until he made a turn. When he was told to go a different way he tried to back up and the car stalled... right where Princip was waiting.

Where's a link to download this ?
I listen to different stuff all day while working and could use some new material.

If you use an iPhone, don't bother looking under podcasts, it's not there. Instead you've got to go to iTunes and buy it. It's like $3.99 an episode or something.

Thanks - never heard of Dan Carlin, sounds interesting. Heading out for three day road trip and will listen.

Something like $50 for all of the old episodes.

It's worth it.
Worth every penny.
Costs less than a beer.
You can buy his entire library for less than the cost of a good bottle of scotch.
Dozens upon dozens of hours of just incredible stuff.
You can hold old uncle Fr33 to that. If you aren't completely satisfied I'll buy you a beer.

You can buy it directly from his website.
Just make an account. That's what I did.

Just wish there was more content.

Ghosts of the Ostfront is the only Dan Carlin series I've had to pay for best I can remember. Seems like the others I just downloaded off my iPhone podcast app.

Punic Nightmares is also a good series.

Nicely done, Darth. Even though I don't listen to audiocasts- are these done in book format?

As far as I know they're not done in book format. I think he sticks to just podcasts.
