When I was about 7-8 years old I got in trouble over something (no idea what it was now) and I got mad and went outside pissed off at the world. I had my baseball bat and wanted to hit something to vent my frustration. I found my victim, my football, laying in the yard. I ran up to it, stood over it, and raised the bat over my head, ready to obliterate this football. In my dumb little mind I was going make this football explode. I brought the bat down with every ounce of force my body could muster. The nanosecond the bat impacted the football it rebounded straight back up at me seemingly twice as fast as it had come down. Thankfully the blow was taken by my forehead and not my face. None the less it knocked me stone cold out. I came too with my older brother shaking me awake. He thought I was dead.

This exact thing happened to me. It was an accident but it happened. Full shot in the side of the head by a baseball bat swung by a 13 year old.
My heart stopped and I almost died. My dad started CPR and it started again. No fractures or anything. This is before MRI’s so they looked at me at the hospital and I think I had quit crying at that point and they sent me home.
I’m fully functional and up to a point had an almost photographic memory. Some folks think I’m an a-hole so there’s that.
In all seriousness some folks say I’m a bit off. I come from a family of the most social people you’d ever want to meet and I just wasn’t that way. I’ve read that could be caused by damage in the area I was struck in but who knows.

Thanks for you and the other people’s personal experience. I guess the answer is you can’t really know unless you have a brain scan.
To the people who thought I was planning something, you’re sick. I would hope no one would ever intentionally or accidentally strike a child in the head. The fireworks stories got my thinking back to growing up and seeing the crazy stuff that would occur.
The worst thing I ever did as a child was accidentally hit a guy in the arse with a golf from like 5 yards away. I was 8 or 9 and he was 13 or 14. Dude was pissed but thankfully didn’t retaliate.

After our Little League season ended in 1982, me and one of my teammates were hitting rocks with our bats. I bent over to get a rock and as I stood up caught his full swing straight in the back of the head. I saw stars and had the Bugs Bunny knot pop up. Today, 38 years later I still have a small knot in the back of my head. It did no brain damage, but I can remember all kinds of useless sports and history facts. The movie Rain Man out my junior year of high school, and people called me Rain Man because like Raymond in the film I loved the Cincinnati Reds and remembered all the player stats, what date and time old games were played, who won, etc. My parents always said I had autistic tendencies with that stuff. Maybe, the lick in the head at 10 did it.

I got hit in the head by a bat at an all star baseball tryout when I was 10 or so. Still remember it well - at Galatas playground in Kenner. Only other kids who I didn’t know saw it - I kept practicing and throughout my life have often prayed that it didn’t affect me.
It was a loud crack - I def saw stars. that was 30 years ago. Have also had 3 or 4 concussions - most from football.
