When you say leave outside all day, will you at least have a dog house or shade for the dog? What about days when there is expected bad weather?

It’ll be inside.

If the dog is trained why not just let it stay inside when you are gone? I have two dogs and I think they just lay around and sleep the whole time no one is home. They don't eat, they are house trained and never use it inside. They don't frick anything up. Now, when I am home they will get into shite they are not suppose to and one of them likes to be outside throughout the day, if someone is home and it is nice outside.

Pets are outside animals. I don’t give a shite what anyone says.

Leaving a dog outside in the heat will cause as much shedding while inside the house as it staying in the house.

I have no problem with an outside dog as a principle. But you should at least know whet you are talking about.

No, it’s not. I’ve had a dog and loved it before. I will not die for it.

Don't let these nerds get to you. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having an outside dog.

Bull honky. if the backyard has shade, food, water, a porch/patio doghouse, there is nothing wrong with leaving your dog in the fenced backyard.

Or if there is no fence, patio, or doghouse and the dog sleeps outside too, that can work too.

I guess times have changed some and it depends on where you live, but growing up I had a collie and a German shepherd. Each of the two neighbors beside us had German shepherds and the one across the street a golden retriever. All of the dogs were outside dogs, there were no fences and everything was fine.

Eta..

The only times the dogs every got to come inside was if it was below freezing outside and then they were only allowed in the garage with the cars.

those were the days. no one was offended nor pussified. I would bike ride miles away from my home my dog followed me everywhere not on a leash; and no one blinked an eye. I drank water out of whatever neighbors hose. no one freaked the flip out if we played or walked through their yard.

We just adopt mutts from the Humane Society, but we’re not picky about them. They live indoors, and we don’t mind them acting like dogs.

No one should just get 'a dog'. Dogs are social creatures. You need a male and a female dog - but not for breeding. It's just that with most dogs, a m & f pair seem to work best. Get them both fixed of course.

Sooooo no one can get just one dog? If you get one you have to get two?

Pretty much all of that. All of us kids played in each others yards, there were no boundaries, hell only 1 house on our block had a fence in the back yard.

Pretty much knew and had been in every house in the neighborhood in the closest 3-4 streets, maybe a couple of dozen homes. And road bikes for miles. In the streets, in the woods, etc.

No, but we have a dog door. They can go outside whenever they want.

Nothing like getting that first sip of hot water that comes out first. It was never a true drink of water unless you put the hose over your head after.. To cool you off.

The op does not indicate he comprehends what dogs need.

Or why he's getting one.

Just a yard is not enough.
