Never... and I mean never ever.. gets old. Truly great comedy always has a sense of truth in it.

Nice post.

Too bad we couldn't have kept him around until he was 85 or 90.

He just got better as he got older.

His airplane bit still makes me laugh every time I fly.

quote:

Welcome to O’Hare International Airport.” Well how can someone who is just arriving herself possibly welcome me to a place she isn’t even at yet? Doesn’t this violate some fundamental law of physics? We’re only on the ground four seconds, and she’s coming on like the fricking mayor’s wife!

I love George Carlin’s stand ups.

I find myself spitting his knowledge to others all the time.

I loved him because he had no use for the perpetually offended.

I would have loved to hear his take on today's offended by everything cancel culture.

The snowflakes today couldn't handle his act today without being offended.

Carlin is one of, if not the greatest, to ever do standup. A few years ago I went down a rabbit hole and followed his career from his earliest recorded performances to his last. Watching his style progress toward what most know him for was interesting. Even during the time of no, or less, profanity, his wit and timing was evident. Unlike many others, he managed to adapt over time and not lose what made him great. He only got better and better. Whether on stage, in his books, or in movies, he never backed down.

I love George Carlin, but people getting offended isn't some new thing, they just have a platform to express it now. Anthony Jeselnik is MUCH more offensive and he is huge in comedy right now. The idea the offended people are some kind of majority, is a myth.

Have you watched the news lately?

Maybe you should ask Chris Matthews about that.

I actually frick with a lot of Daniel Tosh's material. It's way less political and more social in nature. He needles different groups in a more snide older brother.

No. This is your problem. News outlets make money off of drama. Of course you are going to see the outliers, that's what gets clicks and views.

Doug Stanhope may be one of the most "offensive". He's older now and gives less of a shite. He's managed to keep his overhead down, lives in the border town of Bisby, AZ, and isn't reliant upon regular gigs for his income. In other words, he doesn't have much at all to lose by offending the wrong people. And he takes it to heart.

I like him too. I prefer "offensive" comedy over anything else. I love the idea that someone can be that offensive and it's perfectly fine because it is expected.

I watched that whole thing. Not funny. At all. I agreed with all of it. Outspoken. Interesting. Bold, maybe, but not “comedy” in the least.
