I don't know a single Boomer that says that it had that experience and I know a hell of a lot more Boomers than you do. What you describe is what the "Silent Generation" would say.
That was my dad’s mindset.

Not really Scruffy. Lots of Silent Genration and WWII types were in office in the eighties. Go back and see who the majority and minority leaders in Congress were. As far as President goes Regan and Bush were definitely not Boomers

In 1986, at age 30, did your dad and his friends control all of government, economy, and society?

My Boomer dad was working 100 hours a week raising 5 kids in the 1980s. The government was run by old GG's and silent gen until the 90s. What are you talking about?

Say what they did.

To me it's like in 20 years everyone will have to live in community housing with UBI and socialism. But you as a Millennial got to have an opportunity to make money and buy your own house or have an apartment. You really screwed then over. You should've known and you shouldn't have done that. You a-hole. It's your fault.

Just be ready for it.

I don't know your dad.

If he said that he was parroting what is parents told him.

I find that Boomers has become a term synonymous with older people and millennial with younger people.

People my dad's age weren't running the country in the 80s. Some in the 90s. Clinton is a Boomer but he was a young president even then.

Most positions of power in government aren't held by people in their 30s and 40s.

That would explain some of the stupid shite I read.

Basically, it's just garden variety wealth envy. Old people who have worked their whole lives have money, and young people don't [yet]. So old people are selfish and bad!

The older ones of their generation were in their 40s.

In the 1980s, a single generation, the Boomers, were 40% of the electorate.

Gen X, I think, only ever peaked at 25%.

Millennials are currently at 27ish%.

So, yes, the Boomer generation has been the largest voting bloc and in the greatest control since the 80s.

Millennials are catching up though. Prepare your anus because we are going to likely frick things up big time.

The greatest generation gets a pass because of WWII but they were the parents of most Boomers. I think the Silent Gen sort of slips through the crack like GenX but we still have plenty of them running shite in 2023.

Divide and conquer and misdirection.

Don't blame the small group of corporatists who passed mass immigration and NAFTA without the people's consent.

Blame your parents instead. Hate your own family.

I hate the generational wars as much as anything. There aren't even generations except in individual families. A steady number of children are born every single year. When it comes down to it no one is going to stick their neck out for you because you're from the same generation. Your family from another generation will though

GenX will never hold a majority of power because it's a comparatively small generation. We haven't even had a president yet. Maybe Desantis.

It's so stupid. Obama was a young man smoking dope in the early to mid 80s. It's pretty GenX. If he was born 3 years later would that make any difference? Does some psycho on CNN make you happy because he's your age? How do you fricking care? How does it even make a difference?

I don't really care one way or the other. It's just an interesting topic of discussion. I don't think 75% of the population in America could even come close to defining what's considered a Boomer or Millennial

Also it seems like the goal posts have been moved around a time or three.

Also, Gen X is 100% responsible for participation trophies & blue haired gender less children. They have zero backbone.

Bull. shite.

We had them in the 80s and 90s.

Let's also not forget all the panics that happened in the 1980s that led to the sterilization of childhood. The only time I was ever a "free range" kid was when my father was stationed at Fort Stewart, a military installation. No way I was a "free range" kid while I was living in Chicago in the 3rd grade.
