LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — Lakeland police are at Lake Hunter where a large alligator was seen with a man’s body in its mouth.

On Tuesday afternoon, at 1:40 someone at Florida Presbyterian Homes called 911 to report seeing an alligator in the lake that had a body in its mouth.

Police responded to the scene and told WFLA TV that they saw the gator with the body.

“The officers got here and the alligator still had the person. He let the individual go, he is deceased, looks like this person may have been dead more than a day,” said Sgt. Gary Gross from Lakeland Police.

We really need a Florida board.

Is this really all that surprising? This is like reporting on a shark attack off the coast of South Africa.

It's a shame the guy died, but...gators gotta eat too.

My hometown representing as always

ETA: Few years ago we had a homeless guy walk into a lake and get his arm ripped off. Couple months later he went back for more and got eaten.

WOW, my MiL was just there with her husband on their honeymoon. I think it was 1955. THAT was a close one.

Was that the guy in Lake Parker by the "No Swimming-Gators" sign?

This guy? Notice how infrequent attacks are. Not one death in Louisiana ever.

I can't remember. There was that guy and the naked guy on crack who lost a battle with an alligator as well.

Tragedy in Florida is the American version of Tragedy in India. They just can't help themselves.

I just googled Lakeland lake parker alligator attack.

There have been many in the last ten years. Naked crackhead guy got bit by a 12 footer. Deputies played tug of war with the gator for the guy.

Is that the same guy who got attacked twice? That's my favorite one. Naked crackhead guy seems like a wild story, but I mean, who doesn't do crack and wonder around naked sometimes in FL?
