As someone who works in the industry I can tell you we are all in for a bumpy ride.

Some of yall spend a ton of time in a vehicle.
We fill up once a month at most. If I'm in a situation where I need to drive to work every day my top priority is moving close enough to the workplace that I can either walk or ride my bike.
I guess it sucks if your job site rotates weekly/monthly or you deliver materials, traveling salesman, etc. But my mom complains about the gas and she drives a fairly fuel efficient car and chooses to commute 20 miles roundtrip every day when she could work from home. I'm not lambasting her for her choices, but I can't have much sympathy.

Biden's goal - be the guy who transitioned America to electric cars and saved the environment.
They can't get rid of gas powered vehicles, but they can make the gas unaffordable.
Next, everyone starts looking harder at electric vehicles.
More than one way to skin a cat.
Next move - get rid of guns.
Can't legally take the guns away (yet)
Make ammo harder and harder to get
Gun isn't worth much if you don't have ammo for it.

Where our office is located, I wouldn't care to walk or ride a bike in this area even if I lived 1/2 mile away.

Let's say you drive a Prius. That's 500 miles on a fill up. That's 6000 miles a year. That is no were close to what a typical person drives in a year assuming they only have access to one primary vehicle.

I'd move. I also don't have a family other than my wife and dog. I just don't care too much for vehicles.

My point is that there is no reason someone can't design their life around not needing a vehicle for more than than an occasional trip. Not wanting to is a completely different story, but that is where I can't be all that sympathetic when gas goes up. IMO, gas prices should be something in the periphery.
Edit: Took a line out because I can't read apparently

Says the guy with no kids. Good schools require either paying to be in good districts are paying to go to good private schools. Safer areas costs more. You are paying one way or the other, but I'm not shocked you don't grasp that.

You are either retired, a student, or a renter within a downtown area. This is simply not realistic for most Americans. Buying a home to be able to walk to work is not really a great financial move. Life changes too much to stick with that dynamic.

Sounds like you and your friends need to stop being selfish and be appreciative for what you're allowed to still have. Everyone needs to do their part in the New World Order.

No, it's simply not something most Americans want to do. I'm a renter in suburbia right now in Meridian, ID. It's car central out here. My wife and I both have full-time corporate positions.
It's a difference in priorities. Most people don't mind paying the gas prices. If people really really didn't want to pay 3.89 a gallon they would find ways to stop driving.
