Years ago I was attempting to put together the kids hockey net with pvc pipe that I had pre-ordered. Somehow I lost the plans and I attempted to build from memory. Drank a few beers and fell asleep on the couch. Woke up at about 600am and the kids finished putting the hockey net together on their own. I gave them each a $20 for helping me out. They love that story.

My Grandmother is the sweetest woman that I have ever known and probably will ever know as long as I am alive. She loves EVERYONE, is sincere, altruistic, and everything that a "lady" should be. A few years back she had my whole family stand around while I opened a present from her. This is what I got
She laughed so hard and was so proud of herself. It was great to see her step out of her comfort zone.
This isn't really funny like OP's story, but knowing the woman it was hilarious to me. More cute than funny I guess though.
Merry Christmas, everyone.

My eldest son was about 4 or 5 was opening gifts from my mom who had bought him a bunch of clothes. My mom was so excited, he started tearing into those presents. Box 1 shirt, box 2 pants, box 3 shirt, box 4 he looks up and as he was throwing a pair of pants in the pile, reaching for another present and said "more old clothes", the look on my mother's face was priceless, me and my dad was rolling in the floor.
He is 25 now, both my parents are still with us, the older my dad gets the more times he tells the story. Good times!

I had a good friend years ago that was brought up very strictly in one of the very strict churches, church of God , Church of Christ , whichever, where the women wear long dress and pull the hair into tight buns.
Friend was at a Christmas Eve party at Grannies house when a guy peeked through the window in Santa regalia. Older brother about 10 yells out, pointing , "G.. Damn, there's Santa Claus,"
Stone silence then God's wrath descended.

When I was 4-5, got an Atari from the parents. I was pumped and the family was all happy. Then it's my moms turn to open a present from my dad. When she opens it, her first words were something like unbelievable. She gets up and storms off. It was a fancy steam iron lol.

I was stationed in Okinawa one year and living in an open squad bay. Right before we broke formation on Christmas eve, our platoon commander tells us all to hang a green sock for Santa Claus. I woke up at 2 am to find a drunk sergeant, dressed in a Santa hat and cammies filling everyone's "stocking" with a can of beer. So we all got a hot can of Olympia beer from Sgt. Santa that year.

Have yourself an up-vote for your Sarge. Thanks for sharing the story. Good and great NCOs make the Armed Forces work.
