Used to race my RC10 with graphite chassis every weekend at Loupe's in BTR back in the day.

Also had a Kyosho Optima Mid that was amazing.

Bought an Arrma truck during Covid to give me something to do when we were stuck at home.

Overall costs too much and not enough time these days to stay in it.

Growing up if it was remote controlled we probably had it. I never tried helicopters but various levels of planes/gliders, boats, cars, sailboat. Spent alot of time flying planes back in the day.

I absolutely hated the RC cars that would only go forward and you had to back up to turn in one direction only.

Go to your local hobby store and look at and feel up Traxxas and ARMA brushless electric trucks and buggies. Talk to the counter person about questions. Then, go home and YouTube the ones you are interested in. Remember you will need a charger and extra batteries. Go with RTR product (ready to run) with everything you will need in the box, except charging unit.

We built dirt ramps, a place to do burnouts and donuts, used stuff in the yard for obstacle courses, etc. it’s fun as a kid and then you get old……and it’s fun again.

That dirt bike track looks AWESOME. I have an RMZ 250 and a KX 250 and wish I lived nearby to visit!

The newer ones are much easier to maintain and repair versus the old nitro models.

That RC car looks like a beast. I’d love to hear that one rip! What model is that one? I’d like to google info on it!

The brushless are wicked fast, even the small 2S motors have wild acceleration. And, yes, hard to keep the wheels down.

We had put up the nitro trucks for about 12-13 years and got them out, cleaned up, fixed a few things, got a couple of new motor upgrades, and started running them again. It’s crazy to have 10-12 pound trucks run 45-60 mph.

One son has a Matrice 30 and that drone is a terrific drone with incredible capabilities.

Start YTing the S-Maxx and T-Maxx repair vids and you may get the itch again.

Take a look at the Matrice 30. It has an incredible long range cam, thermal, it’s big and it’s fun. Add a spotlight as well.

BRSA,
That is me doing what you just described! We had a couple nitros out today and it was great to get a sniff of the nitro exhaust.

So what are some good sites to buy into this hobby?

Also any preferred hobby shops in Houston?

My neighbor has a stable of RC planes that he does not fly anymore. I may go over there to see specifically what he has and to show him your pics. Thanks for posting!

When I was a kid, my old man and I had a couple of RC cars that were fun. We built a ramp for them and drove them around the parking lot at Jefferson Terrace Elementary. This was in the late 80’s. Then, in the early 90’s we flew an RC airplane. We eventually got out of that and move on to ham radio and astronomy for awhile. We tried a shite ton of different hobbies.
