What? I'm talking about the FBI

He's a vet, a psych patient, a gun owner, and a CHL guy (I believe. I've never tried to check a handgun).
You can't impede on one without "infringing" on another.

Really?
I'm not even arguing. Just pointing out a road I think that would go down. Run some of that by the poli board and see how many downvotes, f--k you, and "cold dead fingers" comments you will get? And a college thesis or twelve written in rebuttle.

Ummm. Maybe put him on the no fly list. Especially while checking a firearm and ammo.
When he spoke to the FBI he stated he didn't want to hurt anyone. His concern was being forced to watch ISIS stuff. So why would he then be put on the no fly list?

Where did you read that? As goes for half the info in this thread.

MK Ultra was a legit and well known CIA/USArmy program operated from the 1950's through 1973. The nature of the program make it prime subject matter for conspiracy theorists. Ted Kaczynski was a subject in experiments conducted on Harvard students by a researcher that would later by associated with MK Ultra.

"Project MKUltra – sometimes referred to as the CIA's mind control program – is the code name given to a program of experiments on human subjects, at times illegal, designed and undertaken by the United States Central Intelligence Agency.[1] Experiments on humans were intended to identify and develop drugs and procedures to be used in interrogations and torture, in order to weaken the individual to force confessions through mind control. Organized through the Scientific Intelligence Division of the CIA, the project coordinated with the Special Operations Division of the U.S. Army's Chemical Corps"
LINK
"At this young, impressionable age, the future Unabomber was recruited for a psychological experiment run by famed psychologist Henry A. Murray. But unlike the ones you and I probably participated in during college, the experiment Murray conducted lasted three years."

If anything this is a slam on our mental health system. The guy has been mentally unraveling for years by all accounts. He should have been committed, and not just for a 48 hour hold. Instead, knowing he was not even close to being in his right mind, he was let out.
We don't do nearly enough as a society to address mental health. This is just scratching the surface. From all accounts so far, this guy was a military vet who went off the deep end, possibly from shite he saw in service. Where are the cries to improve mental health services for our military people? Or for public in general?
Instead it'll just get swept under the rug as another crazy.

Or they could've actually done one iota of investigation into him after his employer reported him to that same FBI office for making terroristic comments just a few months prior. Maybe they could've just taken a look at his online postings, social media etc - because there were warning signs there.
Reasonable suspicion is all that is required from the FBI for someone to be put on the no fly list. And as of right now, that has nothing to do with his gun rights. But it wouldve meant that he didn't board that airplane and 5 people in ft Lauderdale would still be alive today.
As long as the FBI has the ability to label an obvious act of terrorism as mental illness, workplace violence, mass shooting or whatever else they can come up with, as we've seen this administration do countless other times, they'll never be held accountable or questioned about their policies and procedures..or lack thereof.
If they were half as vigorous about investigating potential terrorists as they are civil rights cases involving white cops shooting black criminals, we'd have a lot less innocent Americans dead today.

I'm shocked someone in the military, stationed in Alaska, would even contemplate this let alone do it.

That's real I believe. I'm pretty sure they found out all the email addresses used to set up those accounts were his.

Nice one.
You want to talk about fake news?
No red flags? Minor offenses?
This dude was arrested for strangling his girlfriend. Investigated for child porn. Arrested again for battery. Went to the FBI telling them he was having thoughts about killing people. And depending on what you believe either told them he was having thoughts of joining ISIS (which all this evidence suggest) or he was being forced to watch ISIS videos by the CIA.
