I bought traps, I made the cider thing at home and still battled them. I found the place they were laying eggs and then did the trap thingy again and poof, they were gone.
See if you can find the hoard. That's where the eggs are.
this. i put some bananas in a cabinet while i was cooking one day. forgot about them and went on a trip. came home a few weeks later and it was terrible. wasn't until i remembered the bananas a few days later that i was able to get rid of them

We went over our house to see if we had anything rotting, and couldn't find a thing. Next step was the drains and poured some bleach mixture down the drains and still a lot of fruit flies. We clean up every night and take out the trash and still fruit flies. I really think they are just everywhere right now since the flood.

One of my neighbors had a pest control guy come spray their house, but he told them the same thing. Nothing much you can do right now. Just wait it out...

had this same topic on the OB yesterday. We have had these jokers in our house since the flood. NEVER had an issue with them before. No clue where they are coming from. My wife (no pics) set out 2 traps with the whole apple cider vinegar deal. We've caught over 100 since sunday. The numbers have definitely dwindled, but im scared about everyone talking about laying eggs ins a spot. No clue where that could be. Just hoping i catch them all before they lay eggs to kill the cycle.
Also, have noticed hundreds of flies in and around my trash can each week. Never had that issue before the flood either. I mean, maybe one fly here or there sometimes, but now when i raise the lid, hundreds come flying out. This flood really fricked things up.

This, people saying trap them are treating they symptom not the cause. The mass outbreak is likely due to sewage backup into drains during the flood. The permanent solution is drain gel or a similar product that will let bacteria establish themselves and eat the organic material the flies are reproducing off of.

They are annoying as hell. I didn't have any apple cider vinegar so just put Dawn dish soap with water in a bowl on the windowsill in the kitchen and the same with a plate in the sink. Killed about 75 or so a day. I also left standing water with Dawn in it in the bathroom sinks. Got some in there too. Each morning I dump out the water and bugs and refill. It seems to be working.

I think ours are coming from other sources. We put tape over all the drains and not a single fruit fly was stuck on the other side. I don't think ours are coming from the drains.

Yes and we didn't even flood. Our neighborhood was high and dry and we've had tons of those frickers in the house

Didn't read the whole thread. But, it could be what are sometimes called sewer gnats. They live around water, in drains, etc. I had a problem with them once in my old condo - they were living in an outside drain, got inside and into my kitchen drain. They were awful!

Pour grape juice in a glass or cup, put plastic wrap around the top, make small pen holes in the top.. they go in, they dont go out.
