The boss schedules one everyday for 4:15. It's mostly an attendance meeting to see who is still there, no one ever has anything to say nor does he. Really sucks when he leaves early and doesn't tell anyone, so everyone has to hang out for a meeting that he doesn't show up at. Pulls this most often on Friday's.

You know he’s hopping into his car with a shite eating grin as he leaves y’all hangin

I know I'm weird in this regard, but I actually kind of like Friday afternoon meetings, assuming they are necessary and useful.

Reason being...I know I'm going to start slacking off on Friday afternoons anyways. So it's a good way to force myself to do something productive that I won't have to worry about doing the following Monday.

How often do y'all have to deal with meetings in the afternoon on a Friday when everyone has mentally checked out on Thursday evening?

Once had one on a Wednesday afternoon, the day before Thanksgiving.

My company does a weekly all hands at 3pm on Friday for an hour. It's gets about 50% attendance, and almost everyone is calling from their phones.

A Friday afternoon meeting better be regarding something urgent or I'll wait for the minutes to be sent out. Most of my clients don't even work on Fridays.

You need to tell your boss that you have an out-of-office meeting scheduled on a Friday afternoon with a client at your local golf course. That's how it's done.

Your boss is a babysitter and obviously sucks

He's a micro manager for sure and old school as hell. Our 4:15 call everyday is an interplant between me, him and another guy here in Ohio and several guys in our plant in Texas. The kicker is we also have a 10:00 am meeting everyday with the same people. It's absolute madness.

I have suggested a couple times to scale back the meetings to a couple days a week or at most one per day. My suggestion was not well received.

Money's good and I don't have people knocking down my door to hire me away at my age. I just have the mindsight to work M - F from 8:00 - 4:30. Anything less is a bonus.

what a novel concept, actually being willing to do what you were hired and are paid to do, it doesn’t seem to be popular on this place

I said they were useless based
On the type of work people do. I was on call 24/7 so a Friday meeting with the industry I was in would not really accomplish much.

I have been with my company for 21 years and we have never had a meeting on a Friday after lunch much less late Friday afternoon.

I'm sure if we ever did, it would be something that can't wait and is super important.

Companies or bosses that do this on a consistant basis should be fired or go broke unless the job reqires it and it is known up front.

I usually block off my Outlook calendar from noon to five on Fridays so when anyone checks my calendar to schedule a meeting, they see I’m already busy.
