After Ida, we made no roof claim, no roof damage. Our wind insurer (I believe Sagesure) sent some you out to inspect the roof. Came back with one shingle of damage wtf. Didn’t know what to do so I shanked him and got rid of the body.
Just kidding I didn’t murder him haha. Of course not.

Exactly what happened to me. Insurance company sent out an PI to investigate the hail claim made by the roofer. No hail damage, but now I have to make several thousand in repairs or they will drop me.

Wish more people than just on this board could read this. These people are scammers and youll end up holding the bag. Public adjusters, free inspection roofers, and plaintiff attorneys are the lowest level of life. Ive said it 1000 times but worth repeating, pro and college sports teams should not do business with them or allow any advertising.

With the news laws that have passed, here’s some things to keep in mind especially if you have elderly parents who struggle with technology.

1: Roofers can not advise homeowners to make a claim or communicate with an adjuster. Therefore all communication will be adjuster and homeowner whether email or phone.

2: Permits are required for reroof projects. To attain a permit you must have more than a handyman license (which is what most roofers have instead of actual residential or commercial construction or roofing license)

3: They are working on a way to ensure homeowners pay their deductible. Farm Bureau already has something in place.

4: This isn’t a new law but is something coming down the pipeline soon. Very similar to automobile claims, there is going to be a preferred provider for the insurance company. They will send the money to preferred provider to perform the work. Homeowner will pay deductible to insurance company (I think).

I am one. If there's not any damage, i'm going to tell you that. Trying to get money out of insurance companies (and I'd rather deal with insurance paid jobs for many reasons, but mainly os because there's no question. If insurance pays for it, the homeowner knows the damage is there) when there are no damages is a waste of time. Other people and companies can deal with that. I want to find roofs that actually need to be replaced and there's hail or wind damage that that the insurance company will pay for (and hopefully outside of a hurricane, because of the differing deductible.) I do other things as well and chasing insurance companies on roofs that dont need to be replaced isn't worth my time. I don't like calling peoole out either. There's a company that'll leave something on people's doors noting visible damage on their roof, that's just shitty business to me. It's their home, they know they are missing shingles, but that doesn't mean insurance is going to pay for it, either.

This is one of the things that is needed, IMO. It's fraud to pay the deductible for the homeowner, but literally evwbody does it one way or another. Homeowners get pissed when you don't offer it to them because they feel like you're trying to rip them off when in actuality, you're just trying to not break the law. It's already hard enough when companies are making up damage as it is.

It was in central Mississippi. I have got the guy’s card on my kitchen counter. I’ll post it when I get home in a couple of days.
