I agree. My statement was a simplistic one. Intelligence is more important than the satisfaction you think you may get in an act of revenge.

I'm pretty sure France's post 9/11 terrorism death tool is less than 100
130 were killed in the Bataclan theater attack alone.

Smh. Military action in a democratic society is EXACTLY what we are fighting against. You fall into a trap of becoming more like your enemy in order to defeat them. And defeating them is a lot tougher than just shooting them. It's an idea we are fighting against.
I get what you are saying and agree to an extent. You dont go overseas to fight someone that is standing in your backyard. These guys are moving freely. Need to catch them, save the resources and flush out the rats on the homeland. Let them blow themselves up elsewhere.

I dare say that the situation was a little more complicated as in there being tens of thousands of people being persecuted and needing a place to go.
They let their emotions guide them to the wrong outcome.

No way. The Maginot line will stop them.

Being a free country comes with problems. The laws that protect our citizens also protect criminals and terrorist. The question is how far are you willing to erode your compassion and ideals to make sure you aren't scared of the boogeyman.
And I do have a problem with thinking that boarders are effective in the fight against terrorism. The internet has made homegrown terrorist more of a threat than any radicalized jihadist trying to enter the country. Ideas can be passed from around the world in a heartbeat. Most of our terror comes from our own citizens.
Boarders may deter the less than enthusiastic jihadist, but I tend to think if you're willing to die for a cause then an imaginary line ain't going to do shite to stop you. Time to start fighting the war of ideas and not the war of territory like our grandfathers.
