Foundational historical events

I think that certain historical events are foundational, meaning you can't understand any given topic without first understanding the foundational, historical reason for why they are the way that they are.
For example, the foundational historical event in American history is secession and the Civil War. There is no way to understand American society without first understanding the Civil War.
The foundational historical event of Western Europe is the Protestant Reformation and resulting wars of religion.
In a similar way, the foundational event of the Twentieth Century was actually not the World Wars, but was in fact the rise and fall of the Soviet Union. If you do not understand the rise of revolutionary bolshevism/communism, you cannot understand anything about the Twenetieth Century.
The foundational historical event of the 21st century is and will be the rise of China and the relative decline of the Anglosphere.

White people have been worried about their demise for centuries. There's been writings from ancient writers speaking of this. I heard an interesting take on it once, that's the reason why, for the most part, every place white people dominate is mostly successful. I mean overall, where the majority of white people live, as in countries, there's little crime, economies are good, and they are pretty successful.
Now I'm speaking, countries as a whole, not isolated parts of a country. You can go to Appalachia and find mostly white people living in poverty. Overall U.S.A, Australia, England, etc have been very successful countries, as are your smaller, mostly white countries.

I agree they're intertwined in that you could argue World War I led to the Russian Revolution, which in turn led to World War II.

One thing we both left off is the development of the atomic bomb which I’d call the most significant military event in human history.

I would argue that the colonial secession and Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence are more foundational for the current status of the world than these two events.

Indeed. You can also argue that the 1948-49 flash points between US and USSR moved us into irreconcilable territory for decades to come.

This always happens between foundational events. We get bored and lazy and allow the weak among us to lead us around by the nose until something important comes along and requires our attention.
