LBI agents discovered that Dufrene had intentionally deleted over 12 years' worth of records maintained within the internal case management system. These records included traffic citations, fuel expenditures, arrest reports, payroll information, and other important data. Agents also learned that Dufrene’s actions caused significant disruption to the police department’s operations as officials have struggled to retrieve the deleted records.

So.... Was he-

A. Being a sore loser and just causing chaos for the new police chief?

B. Trying to cover up information in those records that would point to some larger crime?

C. Just a complete idiot and deleted records while thinking he was doing something else like removing himself from payroll?

I am certain his attorney will claim C but would love to hear from anyone who knows whats going on.

If an investigation was done on every small town police chief in Louisiana (maybe in the country), I would bet that over 90% of them is doing something illegal.

They added the arrest Affidavit.

And a statement from AG Murrill:
“It’s always disappointing when public servants are accused of breaking the law. They have a responsibility to the people who elected them and to whom they serve. Just because you lost an election doesn’t give you the right to delete public records and sabotage your successor.“ - AG Murrill
