Me too. 2008 I believe. With the wife Croce music playing in the background. Drunk on craft beer and moved to whisky while we were there. Very pleasant evening.

I know a guy who was a pilot and that was on the investigative board. He was at the crash site the day after. Said the scene was pretty gruesome. He said it was a mixture of things that caused the crash. They were suppose to stay the night but Croce wanted to hurry up and fly out that night He said the plane was probably a little too heavy with all the equipment or whatever they had on it also. He said that the 1 dang tree they hit was all by itself and if they miss that they are good. But they t-boned it with the wing because they didn’t get enough altitude fast enough and it was dark.

I’m in my mid-20s and found Croce’s music a few years ago. Started listening to it non-stop for a few weeks, literally couldn’t get enough of it. Had no idea he died tragically for a while, was very sad after I learned of the accident.
My wife and I danced to “I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song” at our wedding.

I read the pilot probably had a heart attack. They were running to the plane to get out bc they got a tip the local police were on the way to bust them for drugs. The pilot was a bigger guy. Again, what I’ve read.
I had heard this as well, but have no way of knowing for sure. I was even told the name of the narc that was supposedly in pursuit.

y the time we found out he had been dead a month but his songs were still sappy sentimental music for the weak minded.
