For the record, I would just like to say that the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds are badass

I have seen both several times including watching the show multiple days back to back. I don’t know why but I get very emotional watching them. They’re just fricking awesome.

I love the choreography, I love the roar of the jets, I love the crowds’ reactions.

I really just think it’s fantastic.

Today, we got surprised as frick. Usually in the air shows it’s standard for one plane to come up behind the stadium and surprise people. Today though, where I was had amphitheater seating so you couldn’t even really see behind you and it absolutely scared everyone to the point where people didn’t know how to react. I’ve never seen a crowd st an air show act so nervous at a surprise flyover.

You should know that I am the posting equivalent of the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds.

You are like a weather balloon. You couldn't even get the name right in the title. You suck.

No offense.

They are incredible

My favorite aviation story ever is Tex Johnson doing a barrel roll in a 707

When I play golf on NAS Pensacola, open to civilians by the way, I catch the Blues practicing over the course. They are only 200 to 300 feet above the course and you can see the maneuvers up close and personal.

Fricking Amazing shite

Got some Buffalo Trace and sitting on the patio and relaxing

My dad was a public affairs officer in the USAF, so he'd have Thunderbird and Blue Angel pilots come over to the house if they were in town for an air show. To 5 year old me, nobody in the world was as cool as those guys.

Well, if I could have any job on the planet, it would probably be a fighter pilot so they’re still cool as frick to me lol.

Having a big vodka myself. Watching my Cubs CRUSH the Bucs.

You're a weather balloon... Still grinning about that.

Cubs are playing the pirates?

And I don’t know what you mean by weather balloon. If you mean flakey. Sure. I am most of the time. Because if I wasn’t flakey, I’d be insufferable

I was just giving a visual contrast between a sleek fighter jet and a big blobbing balloon... Drifting along.

All in fun, guy.

Well yeah, I didn't mean to insinuate they were no longer cool.

Just saying that meeting them as a kid was a bigger deal to me than meeting a sports hero or any other celebrity. Looking back on it, they probably dreaded coming over because I insisted on showing off each of my toy airplanes. Like I was totally impressing them.

Oh, I remember my toys i would play with every day.

I had a F-16 and some sort of MiG I think. Metal models And I had a large GI Joe that I pretended that was Han Solo. And I had a similar size Luke Skywalker. And a two feet tall velociraptor and of course the adventures we would go on each week would put a soap opera to shame.

The fighter models would often get into fierce fights with the velociraptor.
