Another thing I don't understand is why people make Christmas and Easter church such a big deal. I do not go in the first place, but when I was forced too, the sermon was the exact same every Easter and Christmas. I'm not sure why it's such a big deal to go hear the same thing year after year.

Bc Christmas is a holy day of obligation, you heretics

I go on Christmas because it makes my mother happy. That's about it.

I enjoy going at Easter and Christmas so I can hear the Priest dog me out for only going for Easter and Christmas. It makes me realize how much I dislike the Catholic Priests and makes me feel better for only going twice a year.
I practice religion in my own way. It is between me and God.

I would guess it's because most families get together around Christmas. Most families have a few religious people, and the non-religious people feel like it's a good way to win brownie points by going to church for a few hours.
It's certainly better than saying "I don't believe in fairy tales, you mindless sheep" if you're around for a few more days.

And why do they call it Easter when we're in the South?

You don't have to go to church to be accepted by Jesus. Every single person on this Earth is. I understand what you are saying though. What I say to people that believe in God that only go to church a couple of times a year is, "if you really believe in a almighty God that sent his only Son to save you, then why don't you want to go to church as much as possible to get closer with God." People might disagree with me, just my beliefs

That's what all the atheists in denial say

say, bruh... that ain't gonna get you any "closer" to God, in the same way that going to McDonalds all the time ain't gonna make you a damn cheeseburger...

Anyone who truly believed in God would go to church every single day and would pray constantly. Church would be a lot more than a weekly social event if you truly believed an omnipotent God was watching your every move.

huh? even the early church, immediately after the death of Christ didn't observe a strict view of the sideshow we know as "church" now....
i never understood the need for congregations to feel more "christian"... if one truly wants to be in touch with god, that's a personal level type of thing... you don't need a crowd, a band, hymns and homilies, sunday school, choir practice, etc. to be in a real relationship with "god"...

Then go yourself regularly and see if you like it or not. What others may or may not get from doing an activity should not matter to you. Do we ask others why they like to eat a certain food or drink a specific drink, etc.? No, these are subjective matters of personal taste.
Or don't go. If you miss it then go. It's not that big of a deal to anyone other than you.
tl/dr: No one cars if you go or not.

I contend that those of us who attend Mass regularly every Sunday ought to have reserved seats for Christmas and Easter Masses.
All you people who don't give a frick about Jesus except for 2 days out of the year, ought to be standing room only, no reserving the whole pew as if you know what it's like to sit in it.
Glad you are there, not to be a snob, but seriously, none of it is enough to motivate you to attend Mass all the rest of the year?
How many people go to the gym once or twice a week, or once or twice a month, but go to Mass twice a year.
Time to look inward.

What I meant was, religion would be taken a lot more seriously. It would be the absolute first priority in that true believer's life.
Besides, through most of the bible God is pretty particular about how he is worshipped, and he enjoyed having an actual temple.

I was raised roman catholic to where my parents took me to midnight mass till I was 18. When I got to the age of reason, at that point, I stopped going except for Xmas night mass. It was kind of my Xmas present to them but more something to wrap up the evening spending it with them. They appreciated it more than I loathed it so I figured it was worth it to make my folks happy.
I'm a non believer, btw. Merry Xmas.
