Check headlights/taillights for water or sludge in them also. Many cars have computers mounted on the floor under the seats, if carpet is wet so are the 'puters and it's totaled.

What happens to cars that have been flooded?

Are they used for scrap metal?

Since Katrina most have been sold at salvage auctions with a "Certificate of Destruction" which means wrecking yard only, not title at all.

If you don't want it, put a pound of dead shrimp under the seat. When the adjuster opens the door, he will close it quickly.
Totaled.

I have Geico. Doubt water got to the seats. If floor is wet still push for total?

I would. My parents have Allstate and they totaled my mom's car when it only got water to the bottom of the seats. We were shocked but not disappointed.

State Farm totaled anything with wet carpet, no questions asked during the flood last year.

My truck probably got less than 1/2 inch of water.. just enough to make the carpet wet and look dirty and it was totaled. They said my truck (a tundra) had a lot of computer stuff under the seat.
