Need to make LA30 controlled access freeway from south of LSU's campus to I-10 in Gonzales.

LA-30 a controlled access freeway? The state won't even make it 4 lanes. It’s not much more than a country road from LSU through Geismar.

A highway from Ramah to a new bridge @ Plaquemine then 6 lane LA-30 from St. Gabriel to a new extension south of Cabelas and run into I-10 is what needs to happen. I’ve given up on a true interstate type loop.

Out of those 3 options only 1 is actually viable. Other two would require going through Industrial Facilities.

The government has enough money. The people with access to it misappropriate, misspend, pay political allies, cronies’ businesses or outright steal money already collected.

Years ago, there was a vote on the ballot in Ascension for taxpayers to approve more taxes to buy Lamar Dixon. The vote failed. The parish bought Lamar Dixon anyway.

There is the lesson: Don’t tax yourself and give government more money. They have enough already.

The two to the south indeed go right thru the middle of Shintech, although its an open area currently. Regardless, they would go thru EPA hell to get it approved not to mention Shintech isn't giving that land up for free.

This whole thing is a shitshow of epic proportions.

It takes time to find the best hands to grease and pockets to line.

I've lost count of the number of studies and I shudder at the cost of those involving NEPA requirements.

Most of us will be dead when that bridge is open.

That would put the I-10 exit for the Sunshine Bridge about 5 miles away from the exit to this new bridge.

That's what makes the south of Plaquemine location so damn stupid. By all accounts, its going to connect to Hwy 74 on east side and continue to I-10. That's 11 miles between it and the Sunshine Bridge exit. WTF?

The fact that they even thought using LA 1 as a main route is laughable.

Make the Ramah exit where the loop starts, take the levee, run south of plaquemine, bridge just south of the old power plant in St. Gabriel, and tie in I-10 east of the bluff road overpass.

But but but no on my land.

It might be the single dumbest idea in Louisiana road building history. It will easily be the most costly when/if completed.

These bridges say hi:
Audubon Bridge in New Roads

4 lane bridge but 2 lane connecting roads, light traffic counts

Veterans Memorial Bridge in Gramercy

Started construction the 1980’s on the main spans, state ran out of money and had to wait until the 1990’s to finish the approaches. Initially Connected West Bank River Road to US 61, later extended via 2 lane roads to 3127 and I-10, still light traffic as there is no direct connection to Highway 20 and the eventual connection to US 90 in the Houma-Thibodaux metro area that was proposed long ago before I hit puberty.

And Wilson wants to be our governor.

I don’t think so Shawn.

Compare that to a new bridge. Its basically the Gramercy bridge with its approach roads JUST to get from I-10 east to LA 1. Now add 20-30 Miles of ROW, new highway, a couple of bridges (minimum) to connect to I-10 west.

And after all of that, you drive 35-40 miles from Dutchtown to Grosse Tete and the largest metro area you get within 10 miles of is Plaquemine.

I-49 is still not finished through Acadiana. At this point those "future corridor" signs are historic. What the heck is taking so long here?

North Louisiana is doing their part on extending 49

Why is everything involving LADOTD such a massive disappointment? Anything the state needs takes so much longer than it has to.

Just think you can vote for Governor for the idiot who has been leading that inept organization for the last 7 years.

It’s one example, of many, for the way Louisiana is run. Unfortunately, all of these things create a negative feedback loop where people leave the state as they see realize nothing improves. Additionally, the people that leave are usually the more educated with the financial resources to leave. This further reduces the competency of the population that then fill these positions.

There are a lot of great, smart people in Louisiana, but there should be a lot more of them.
