I am considering purchasing one or the other.
One has more bells and whistles.iwatch.
The other does what I am primarily looking for. Health stats on fit bit.
What says the ot?

Neither. Both are unnecessary.

What do you want it for? Just for motivation, it doesn't matter. If you are a runner, neither

Not everyone has the same tolerance for a calorie counting, heart rate measuring anal plug up their arse like you do.

They are both fads. Don't get either.
If you want health motivation, then go live in a developing country for about a month. You'll have the best diet you could ever imagine.

An Apple Watch is meant to be an iPhone on your wrist. A fitbit is purely for fitness. These are really not comparable. It's like saying I am trying to decide between a bus and a car - they serve two different purposes primarily.
If you are just looking for a fitness aid, get the fitbit.

That is what I am considering.
I want the fitness monitor.
But is an I watch worth the extra $. For the extra bells and whistles.

The term iWatch was already trademarked, so Apple is using the term Apple Watch.

The iWatch will make you look rich.
The fit bit will make you look like a fat woman.

Those are two completely different products if you're comparing their features. The iWatch is not supposed to be primarily for tracking fitness, and the FitBit is just for that. Depends on what you want to spend, and what you're using it for, but if you're gonna buy the iWatch just for the fitness aspect then you're wasting your money. Also, I view the iWatch out now as a prototype and it'll be so much better when they come up with the next one. All that said, why do you really need a FitBit? Yeah, it's helpful with tracking fitness activities, but I'd rather join a gym than pay for a watch that costs about the same.

Solid advice.
Which one should he pack up his family and quit his job to move to?

I personally would not want to exercise while wearing a watch I paid $500 for or however much it costs.
