Was a sham. If you know first responders or nurses that were thinking about switching to at&t’s Firstnet, tell them not to do it. My phone is useless without an internet connection right now. My friends with Verizon are able to use their phones with no issues. I have to hotspot connect to theirs so I can somewhat use my phone. Firstnet is half the price of Verizon service but you get what you pay for.

The government gave AT&T 6.5 billion for FirstNet as well.

Can't get ahold of my family that have it.

FirstNet is so far mostly a PR stunt IMO.

I’d love to get into HAM radio myself; seems like a cool hobby that can pay dividends in an emergency.

Firstnet is badass. Give them a few hours and they'll have portable towers setup all over the place. Hell they had trucks with antennas here after Sally for months.

No shite?

Except “in an emergency we’ll hurry up and put some towers up” wasn’t the sales pitch they regurgitated. It was that you’ll be able to use a dedicated band on multiple networks. That cell towers from every company were mandated to have a dedicated band for firstnet users to utilize in an emergency.

They lied.

FirstNet Hardware is not made by AT&T. AT&T leverage their spectrum with it.

I know this because the Start-Up who does the work for FirstNet tried to get me to leave my current company to do R&D for it

I learned long ago to expect nothing but aggravation from AT&T.

Verizon must have missed the hurricane memo, because they seem to be working, unlike AT&T/firstnet.

Hell I'm hearing even T-Mobile is working better than AT&T.

AT&T probably should have taken some of that money and spent it on backup power.
