Here is what you said.

And no, I'm not going to make a 16 year old pay for a vehicle. That's dumb.
Sounds to me like you think it’s “dumb” to make your kid help pay for their own car. Like I said, great parenting there.

Whatever self driving car is available then. No accidents, cheaper insurance will make the additional expense worth it.

Some kind of classic car. I hear that millennials love them.

Right.
Which doesn't mean I'm not going to teach my kids about budgeting and saving and being responsible.
Are you so dumb that you just can't fathom other ways to accomplish these things?

doesn't matter what you get. they will wreck the damn thing.

I'm pretty sure he started this thread just so he could call other parents "bad parents"

Are you so dumb you can’t fathom the best way to accomplish these things is with a part time job, their own checking account, and responsibility for at least some of the cost of their bills?

After Darth Jr totalled the Tahoe, who bought the p/u truck?

And let everyone know how poor he is by telling everyone how rich he is.

Is it?
And where did I say that they wouldn't get a part time job? Or a checking account? Or responsibility to pay for their own things?
Please link this. I'll wait.

No I started to discuss cars. I’m calling you a bad parent because you think it’s “dumb” to make a teen help pay their own bills. Shitty parents coddling their kids like you are why so many kids are infantile now and can’t function as adults.

A minor can’t buy a vehicle on their own. The parent has to buy it and the teen takes a portion of their paycheck from their after school job to go toward the payment and insurance.
But you already knew that. Or at least I hope you did.

You took that as me not teaching my kids any responsibility or how to function in the real world.
My parents didn't make me pay for my first vehicle. Guess what? I still had a part time job! And still had to pay for my own things! And I still learned how to budget properly and function in the real world.
It's truly amazing how that happened.

Because a good parent bought their kid their first car?

I bought older model trucks (about 10 years old from the year I purchased) and put replacement bumpers on the front. My 2 boys did ok but my daughter beat the shite out of hers. All were around 4k at the time of purchase. Carried liability only. They had to pay their own fuel and keep clean, wash, etc...

My kids don’t have time for an after school job. They barely have time to work a little part time job during the summer.
How come? If they know how to manage time they should also have time to work in addition to school and other activities.

The vast majority are too bad with money to help children once they turn 18+. People don't know how to save. They'll spin it to some responsibility thing, when it's the opposite. Nothing like those life lessons you learn broke down on the side of the road, oh wait.
