There's like a 98% chance your neighbor will have a dog that barks 23 hours a day.

One thing we learned the hard way: whatever warranty the house comes with means absolutely nothing if it goes bankrupt right after signing. We had an issue within a year and found out the company covering the warranty went under and there was nothing we could do. This is apparently something a lot of builders will do as a scheme, create some company that covers warranties and then they go "bankrupt" soon and start a new company in time for the next neighborhood they begin building in. No idea how true that is but we experienced it first hand. Not sure how you could stop it from happening to you but if you have a lawyer looking over your documents you may want to mention it and see if he has any ideas.

See if you can pay your own property taxes, escrow is a fee grab by a bank also look to see if you have an early pay penalty too. Key is a mortgage banker you trust and a good home inspector.

Really? Hmmm that's actually sound advice. I just bought a house at the end of December and set aside $1,600 in escrow for property taxes each year.
