I enjoyed his stories at lunch time.
There were stories of every day people and their mishaps and heroics.
It would be great to have someone relate our country and it's people without politics involved and show how American life really is.
There's a job waiting there for someone.

Thought he was kinda strange at an early age. Later learned he was a genuine, patriotic man with great wisdom.
“If I were the devil” gives me chills hearing that even today. I believe much of America is there. He knew.
And of course...the rest of the story, Good Day.

Listened to him on the easy to school every day as a kid. Then one day he went on a rant about how blacks had an extra bone in their ankles that acted like a spring, and that was the reason they were better athletes than white folk.
As a sixth grader struggling in football practice, getting my arse jacked by a future SEC defensive end every time l took the snap from center, I remember thinking that ankle bones had nothing to do with my cracker arse getting pummeled every afternoon at football practice.

Wandered into a church downtown Chicago one afternoon and sat in the back. Turns out a funeral was happening, but I didn't know who it was.
What to do?? I stayed out of respect. It was a medium size church, but only about half full.
As I found a bulletin I glanced down at names only to discover I was at Paul Harvey's funeral. His brother was speaking and then others spoke. I don't recall anything they said, but it all related to stories of his childhood and education, oddly, very little of the radio show.
And that is what I think of when I hear "and that's the rest of the story. Good day."
