It's fairly common for people to enter a PhD program and leave with a Masters after completing the coursework in two years.
In all honesty, it's a good way to receive free tuition and a stipend for your Masters degree.

The dirt digging and ad hominem character assassination begins. There will be more on this guy I'm sure. How dare he express an opinion outside the bounds of GroupThink. No one has ever embellished a LinkedIn profile.

So the dude went to Harvard, you would think after Harvard president Larry Summers got fired for making a similar comment about women he would have know to just kept quiet about the matter.
"Harvard President Lawrence H. Summers has triggered criticism by telling an economics conference Friday that the under-representation of female scientists at elite universities may stem in part from “innate" differences between men and women,"

quote:Don't be daft. I know how it works ... are you telling me that you've never entered anything on any form/website/whathaveyou incorrectly? Never checked the wrong box? Never hit "Submit" before you intended? Are you also telling me that LinkedIn is the world's first perfectly coded website? Running on the world's first error-free servers?
I'm guessing you don't know how LinkedIn works?
Anything on that page he put there himself.
Or are you maybe willing to admit that it is as least possible that this wasn't some malicious intent to deceive?
Now, do I think this was some glitch? Probably not. However, I do think that it is highly likely that it was hurriedly compiled at a time when he was either already employed - in which case he didn't really care too much about the accuracy of the data, or at a time when he assumed that by the time it would be needed he would have completed/fulfilled whatever he was putting on there. Later, after he was fired (or on the verge of being fired) he perused all of his relevant employment information and adjusted such accordingly. I doubt this man was thinking that he could deceive a tech giant like Google, but not be able to deceive his next employer - which would be the case if he's only now changing his resume.

Business Insider's Dana Varinsky was able to debunk many of them.
Debunked, indeed.

It would be difficult for even a complete idiot to accidentally put that he has a PHD on his LI page. I'm sorry but having made one and knowing many other people that have them there is little chance he did that on accident. The fact that he worked for Google makes it all the more ridiculous for that excuse to hold water.
Or do you also think George O'Leary's resume padding was an honest mistake too?
