Isn't this the ferry that takes you to the naked island?

The crew was able to extinguish the fire, and the Gulfport Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard responded. “We are evaluating the situation to find out what happened and working with the Coast Guard,” said Louis Skrmetta with Ship Island Excursions. The people on the boat are all okay and are being moved to another ferry boat, the Gulf Islander, for a trip to Ship Island.

Is Ship Island a naked island? I've only been a handful of times, but it mostly families.

VIP Grinders noted that an unofficial nude beach on Ship Island is one of travelers' favorites. The barrier island is about 12 miles offshore. If you're looking for a beach with the clearest water, Getmyboat recommends checking out Ship Island for "powdery white sand and turquoise waters that rival those of the Caribbean." You can also check out Fort Massachusetts, which dates back to the Civil War. The island has a swimming area, bathrooms, pavilions and a concession store. A public ferry runs from March to October out of Gulfport.

Interesting. I'd imagine the crowd is a bit different when the ferry is not running out there. Like I said, the few times we went it was a bunch of families with young kids.

Didn’t Getmyboat used to post on this forum? I know he was big on boats.

We heard a taking on water call to the coast guard on channel 16 today. Wondered what that was.

It’s nice out there and much better than the mainland, but comparing it to the Caribbean is a stretch

Yes i have. Saw nothing comparable to the Caribbean (or Florida for that matter). Thankfully didn’t stumble upon any haggard arse nudist/swinger types either.

We’ve been invited by our neighbors to go before, but I think after 30 minutes of novelty I’d just spend the day feeling shipwrecked and wishing I’d stayed home in the AC.
