Go somewhere that has trackman, by far the best way to get exactly the equipment you need. Shaft flex is dependent on things other than just swing speed....

If you have decent swing speed extra stiff or stiff. Gotta watch out for flex. Brand is whatever

Extra stiff works for very few players. Most people, even the ams who swing fast should be using a shorter shaft and stiff (which will feel stiffer when cut down).

Kick-point, torque... different shaft makers have different materials that can feel different.

So much bad advice in this thread including this. Go get fitted on a launch monitor (preferably not at one of the indoor golfsmith ones). They can tell you spin rate, angle of attack, swing speed/ball speed (i.e. smash factor) and many other stats that lead into picking the right shaft.

This is where I got fitted

And they literally have thousands of shaft/head combos available

Seems to me like a top dollar driver would already come with a pretty good shaft.

Most do, but many are the "brand name" versions of those aftermarket shafts and don't play nearly as well as the actual aftermarkets do.

The only way you will ever be able to tell is by testing a few out with your own driver head and looking at the numbers.

If you don't have a driver where the shaft is interchangeable, then you probably shouldn't be asking the question in the OP

Where does one get fitted for something like this, find, and how much of a difference does it really make?

Demo day, the way technology is now, they can just swap out shafts interchangeably with the club head right there. Not to mention they do them on ranges, and actually getting out there and hitting it is the truly best way to find the right one

You can easily try 5-6 shafts if not more although you wont need to. The rep out there will have some guidance based on your swing speed which he likely will be measuring

Its really just trial and error. It helps if you're up for buying, selling, & trading shafts for experimental use.

Also help if you have a launch monitor, obviously. But if you have pretty good feel and knowledge, course testing works just fine.
