Living in Houston and having family in Louisiana, I see this as absolutely true. I can't decide if it's a good or bad thing. I will say that every time I go back to visit my family (country near Shreveport and Baton Rouge), I truly feel like I have stepped back in time at least 30 years. It's most likely one of the reasons Louisiana has the economic problems it does.
