.22lr ammo is a rimfire round meaning no primer required. Put enough of them in a pipe bomb, and you have a lot of shrapnel flying around to do a lot of damage. They don't require a firing pin to set them off.
Like others have said too, that are great for plinking targets. It will be interesting to see if any .22lr rifles or pistols show up.

Not sure about the pistols, but there are inexpensive kits to allow one to convert AR15 to .22LR - at LSU ROTC, our range was only rated for rimfire ammunition, so we used the subcaliber drop ins all the time.

I can't tell you how many guns I have lost in multiple boating accidents.... Maybe the government should have more stringent requirements for boat manufacturers. I blame the boat problems on climate change.

That is a common OB euphemism for "they ain't coming to get my guns".
I don't play such games. But a volcano did claim my collection, unfortunately.

That's a strange place for a boating accident.

Yeah, I should have read that brochure a little more closely.

The recent tragedy that i speak of was a tornado, I was transporting my guns to our local buy back program at our sheriff's office. As i was coming off the mountain near the house the skies opened up and a cat5 tornado picked all of my guns up out of the truck bed and flung them to god knows where. The only thing left was a few of those evil 22LR rounds.

Good idea. Thx. I'll use that for the guns I didn't purchase from those nasty old individuals at gun shows, work place parking lot, etc.

This attack does betray a lack of hands on leadership and a weakness in this decentralized cell organizational structure. Youthful impulsiveness doomed the couple. Clearly they had the means and method to complete a number of attacks. If he hadn't picked a target where he would be known, and generated enough attention for him to be identified soon after the attack, they might have evaded detection for quite some time.
Of course, now this is an object lesson and teaching point for cells for future operations. A bunch of "no way" stuff happened with this attack. There was tactical training going on about a mile away? There were response teams there in less than 5 minutes? They had the name and DOB within a short period of time?
And even with all that, the mission has to be considered a success for the terrorists.

Getting back on the subject matter.... If these 2 had not gone back by their house which led to the chase and shootout; how many more attacks would have gone down. A one time attack with that much stored firepower doesn't seem likely. I am starting to wonder if jihadi let his emotions get the best of him.
Who are these other people who where in and out of his house the last couple of weeks? I think he jumped the gun early, and something much bigger was planned.

Where did he go immediately following the attack, and why in the hell was he only like a mile or 2 away from the shootings when they found him? That baffles me.
