When most people see a headline saying something happened “in Iowa”, they think of the state of Iowa.
But they don’t know how to pronounce it up north. We knew right away due to the pronunciation.

I saw a gut wrenching post from the wife's mother. The wife was their only child with only one grandchild. She wrote that their whole world revolved around this little family. The wife apparently tried for years to have a baby and finally did. Lots of joy in the pictures on Facebook. I don't know them at all, but I sure feel for the families and, especially, the wife's family. They have lost their entire family.
Did they say if they were planning to sue anyone?

Some lawyer will figure out a way to blame it on the helicopter manufacturer.

This makes the husbands decision even more baffling to me.

There's always someone to sue. No incentive not to.

The husband turned 50 in May. The party theme was "Flying into Fifty". Ominous....

According to this article, Savant was a student pilot. It's behind a paywall, but it allows for you to have multiple free articles.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating a recent helicopter crash that took the lives of a man, woman and infant. At about 9 p.m. on Friday, a Robinson R44 helicopter crashed on the 5000 block of Hecker Road in Iowa, La. Local law enforcement, local firefighters and the Louisiana State Police responded to the scene. On Monday, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed the deceased victims were Jared Savant, 50; his wife, Tanya Savant, 35; and their 2-year-old baby. The family was from Kinder.
The NTSB is heading the investigation. NTSB Public Affairs Officer Keith Holloway told the American Press that preliminary information states the circumstances of the crash are unknown, and that a “post-crash fire ensued.” He told the American Press an “NTSB investigator is wrapping up the on-scene investigation.” Following the investigation, the aircraft will be recovered and taken to a secure facility for evaluation. Preliminary information indicates the circumstances of the crash are unknown, and that a “post-crash fire ensued.”
According to the FAA “Airmen Inquiry” database, Savant was certified as a student pilot on March 8, 2024, and was prohibited from carrying passengers. “This was a very tragic accident, and our hearts go out to the family and loved ones affected,” said Sheriff Stitch Guillory in a news release. “Our deputies arrived on the scene and began a preliminary investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration was called out to investigate the crash and our deputies stayed on scene and assisted until the FAA arrived, began their investigation, and cleared debris from the area” Guillory said he was particularly grateful to the community members who live in the area of the crash.
“Without hesitation, they provided assistance at the scene until first responders arrived and continued to provide assistance until the scene was cleared,” he said. Holloway said a preliminary report on the crash is expected to be completed within 30 days of the accident.

was reserving comments until now, don’t care how much of a good guy everyone will say he was, he willfully and intentionally broke the law and murdered his family, sadly, she trusted him completely

It makes me wonder if she knew he was just a student pilot and not certified to carry passengers. I can't fathom taking this chance.

Pretty clear result of a mast bump there
Based on what??? No chance they hit a guide line? Engine failure? Fell asleep?
Video shows no apparent damage to the tail rotor section.

Myself included. Interestingly, the R22/44 is the only helicopter I am aware of that has a FAA SFAR requirement and for good reason(s).
FAA SFAR 73

Even worse. She trusted him to not put their 2 year old in harm's way. Really infuriating

What if it turns out that the blame should fall on the helicopter manufacturer?
Wouldn't you want "some lawyer" (derogatory inference font) to recover for the family?
Don't be a simpleton.

Dude - someone asked me "Why would they sue?"
I provided an answer.
Reading comprehension and context are not your strong points.

If the flight instructor(s) that signed him off for solo knew he was carrying passengers or flying outside of his student perimeters; could be found negligent if they didn’t report it to the FAA.
