Should have their own risk pool and pay for their behavior.

Same category as obese people.

We subsidize poor decision making in this country, to the detriment of our society.

In this country, we have always subsidized stupidity, incompetence, ignorance, criminal activity including murder, and on and on. But you're gonna single out fatasses? Why? Any of you know it alls actually pay for health insurance for a family of 4?

While bullying in general should be frowned upon, to some degree it is needed to make you stronger as a person. Similarly, encouragement should be used to help motivate, probably far more than "shaming" or bullying. People shut down and retreat into themselves when bullied or made to feel ashamed of themselves.

What should absolutely not be promulgated is this body acceptance movement among overweight and obese people. It's perhaps a fine sedative for them to take to make their mental health temporarily better, but the reality of it is that, even in a society becoming more and more fat, they shouldn't be fat. The body doesn't want to be fat. When you're fat, the body breaks down far, far faster, you feel like shite, you feel slow and rundown. It's not good and fat people know it. No amount of "body positivity" mumbo-jumbo is going to ultimately fix that.

So we need to encourage people to get up and exercise and understand caloric deficit. Take it two days at a time at first and really diet. Then give yourself a small reward for having done that (e.g. a scoop of ice cream). Then do another 2 days. Then 3. Then 5. Eventually you'll stop the bad habits.

You can do it. It's not as hard as you think it is. Stop thinking negatively about being in shape. Stop thinking positively about being accepting of your fat body. Understand you can do better in all things and strive to accomplish your goals.

Just because we've always done it doesn't make it not stupid.

Yes.

Your unhealthiness affects all of society.

You should be ashamed and should fight yourself at Sonic.

I'm not reading 13 pages so this may have been touched on. How about we start at the top where the real problem is - the Standard American Diet (SAD) and the food pyramid, recommended by congress and paid for by the Agriculture Lobby.

People in this country aren't educated on proper nutrition due to corporate dollars and corrupt lawmakers lining their pockets and not giving a damn.

When Europeans eat our white bread and they say it tastes like cake to them. There's a real problem in our basic food sources.

Sure, Americans consume soda like its water but its also advertised and pushed on every other billboard, tv commercial, and radio spot. Maybe if lawmakers took a hard stance on that like tobacco and limited the advertising outlets like in the 80's it'll go a long way to removing the subliminal push the industry has on Americans. Sugar causes cancer, why isn't that on every ad we see?

With that all said, I like the fat chicks.

To you it probably doesn't. But there's a lot of bickering about how fatty made their health costs go up. It WASN'T Tubby who made health costs go up.
