Fasting Diets

I posted this on the Health/Fitness Board but figured it would get more traffic here.
Any MD’s opinions on this type of lifestyle change? I am currently reading a book about fasting written by a nephrologist and he states he has great results for his diabetic patients.
Any credible advice about these diets for healthy individuals?

The one benefit that’s obvious to me is I seem more alert and I like feeling lighter and not bloated when working out.

I’ve been doing it for a few days now and I have a surprising amount of energy.
The hardest things is obviously dealing with that knawing feeling in your stomach at 9:00 at night on the couch.
Does that sensation eventually go away or is that something that I can always expect? Drinking a glass of water only helps for short time.

Same here. Once I get past that I’m good until lunch the next day. I find it helps if you take a couple of lortab.

Water helps. I drink probably 8 bottles a day.
Also, black coffee is your friend.

Can you Cure Diabetes? | Does Fat cause Type 2 Diabetes?
That is from the What I've Learned channel. All videos have studies backing them. Fasting is far and away the healthiest diet. It increases your metabolism, turns on autophagy after about three days, prevents muscle loss from huge boosts to growth hormone compared to eating less, etc. It is the best way to diet and it is completely free, literally costs nothing.

I see you've just discovered Dr. Jason Fung and The Obesity Code.
Welcome.

It’s a great way to control calorie intake. It’s a good tool for fat loss.

Basic concept. Your GI track is a processing center. Fasting allows it to process food ingest, then make repairs. I have been doing it for years.

Everything I've read makes me believe it's beneficial. What's not clear to me is which variety helps the most (i.e intermittent fasting 16 hrs per day, fasting for 24 hours twice a week, etc.)
