Completely false.

Source - I'm a prosecutor and I can unequivocally tell you that denying an officer the right to search your vehicle does not then give them the ability to do a warrantless search under the guise that they suspect you're hiding contraband. That shite would get suppressed in court so fast. No reasonable prosecutor would file charges with that being the basis of the search

I'm going out on a limb and assuming you don't consider running a drug dog around the vehicle as a search (it is). The only way we truly have the right to deny a search is if the cop asks, I say no, then the cop gets back in his car and sends me on my way. I think we both know that's not how it works though.

However, if you are a prosecutor that will throw out any case where a dog is used then I absolutely apologize.

we have no justifiable ability to deny police search our vehicles without just cause because they use the ruse

Here's an idea. Don't have drugs in your vehicle. Then you don't have to worry about anything. Problem solved.

Complaining about this is like a bank robber complaining about the security cameras.

Where does "I smell weed" come into play? It seems like those words can instantly give permission to search due to probable cause and there's no way you can disprove the officer saying there's a weed smell.

When they ask to search and you say no. They berate you after you say no, asking what you have to hide. They try to get you to change your mind, then tell on yourself.

If all this fails, the magic nose smells weed and probable cause is obtained.
